So disabling WPAD is killing a service I want. Some options appear to disable WPAD function IE, others appear to completly disable the WPAD service itself, e.g:ĬomputerConfiguration > Policies > Windows Settings > Security Settings > System Services and disable the WinHTTP WebProxy Auto-Discover Service.ĭisabling the WPAD service work well enough for Windows 7, but on Windows 10 the 'IP Helper' service is dependant on WPAD. There are a lot of ways to get this done via Group Policy. It looks like it's a "Good Idea™" to disable the web-proxy auto-discovery service (WPAD) service on Windows. I'm late to the game on this issue, but I'd like to make sure I'm going down the right path as my Google results have been all over the map.
